The following is the current Vision Statement from the pastor, staff, councils, and commissions:

Our Lady of Sorrows is a Catholic Christian community in the Snoqualmie Valley that, taught by Jesus, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and led by its Bishop through our pastor, lives the Gospel Values in our daily lives. We are a welcoming, inclusive, loving family for one another and a living witness to the presence of the Risen Christ in our larger community. We do this through responsible stewardship and service to others.

GOALS

• To plan and support quality liturgy.
• To increase understanding and to enhance the growth of stewardship within the parish.
• To increase understanding of and participation in community outreach within and beyond our parish.
• To provide faith formation and educational opportunities for all parishioners.
• To increase parish social involvement opportunities.
• To obtain land for building a new parish plant.
• To promote and facilitate the full integration of Hispanic/Latino Catholics into the Life of Christ and its mission.
• To improve parish communication.

PASTORAL COUNCIL:

The purpose of the Council is:

• to form community as a sign and witness of unity for the larger parish community
• to provide recommendations for parish priorities, directions, and policies through pastoral planning, and policies through pastoral planning
• to promote communication and understanding among parish organizations and between the parish, the Archdiocese, and the universal Church.

Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month. Agendas include Financial reports, Religious Education updates, Youth Ministry updates, and reviews of both the Liturgical Life Commission and Social Events Committee.

FINANCE COUNCIL:

Monthly meetings are held prior to the Pastoral Council meetings. The finance council is a consultative body which provides the pastor with advice concerning the stewardship of parish fiscal resources. It assists the pastor by:

• conducting long-range financial planning (developing a three year fiscal plan).
• developing and overseeing a parish budget process, addressing parish priorities and goals.
• providing financial analysis of current status reports and proposed goals and programs.

LITURGICAL LIFE COMMISION:

This commission studies liturgucal documents and practices and advises the pastor and the Parish Pastoral Council on ways to enhance the liturgy. Recommendations are made in accordance with the Parish Plan.

FAITH FORMATION COMMISSION:

The Faith Formation Commission is a parish consultative body which recommends to the pastor policies and programs which address the faith formation and religious education needs of the parish.  The Commission gives prayerful direction and focus to the faith formation process, establishing goals as they affect the overall catechesis, evangelization and service at Our Lady of Sorrow, recognizing that the journey of faith lasts a lifetime.  This is done in the spirit of God's love with guidance from the Holy Spirit.

OUTREACH COMMISSION:

The Outreach Commission recommends strategic policies and programs to the pastor which addresses the social mission of the Church. This commission is to engage in a careful study of Church teaching and monitor the social needs present in the area. The commission recommends ways in which the parish can minister to the needs of those in the wider community.  The commission seeks ways to promote justice and peace in the parish community itself, and ways the parish can become involved in the social justice issues in society. Through its deliberations, through consultation and educational efforts, this commission promotes a deeper understanding of an individual's baptismal commitment  and communal call to service of the poor.

Social Events Commission

The Social Events Commission recommends to the Pastor policies and programs that address the social life and community development of the parish.  The Commission seeks ways to promote the development and renewal of community and hospitality in the parish.  Through its consultations, deliberations and programs, this Commission promotes a deeper understanding of each individual�s baptismal commitment and the communal call to build up the Christian community.

The Commission recommends policies to the Pastor that will help the parish strengthen its community life.  It values and respects the diversity of lifestyles and family situations found within the parish community.  The Commission plans and conducts programs to build community and hospitality within the parish.  The Commission helps to coordinate the services of the various ministries and committees which address the social life and community development of the parish.
