SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM FOR PARENTS & OTHER ADULTS
Archbishop Brunett has mandated that all parishes must provide an educational opportunity for parents and other adult family members on the Safe Environment Program by June 30th, 2008.
The program is entitled “Called to Protect” and it is offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Hall on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008 from 7 – 8:30 pm Presented by Anita Florence, Trained Facilitator
How to Register
If you have internet access, you can register online. If not, you can register at the door. For online registration: go to: www.seattlearch.org – click on the Safe Environment link on the right side of the page – then under Safe Environment Program – click ‘go to the website’ – then on the left side click on ‘Register for Classes’. In the listings, locate the class on June 10th at Our Lady of Sorrows, Snoqualmie from 7-8:30 pm and sign up. To register at the door: please come early (if you haven’t registered online) so that you can register before the class begins.
If you cannot attend the session on June 10th at Our Lady Of Sorrows, you may search the website for a one and one-half hour training session at another parish on a different date and sign up for that class.
Called to Protect teaches parents and other adult family members how they can keep children safe from sexual abuse. The program includes a video and group discussion.
Be aware that learning about child sexual abuse can be disturbing, however, the more we learn, the more effective we can be in keeping our children safe.
(Please note that Pastors & pastoral staff attended a 5-hour training program and all other staff and volunteers who work on parish grounds have been required to attend a 3-hour training program in order to continue serving in their ministries.)
